Balto Specialty Consults is committed to providing comprehensive and specialized access to care for your patients. We’re delighted to announce the addition of Rehabilitation Medicine as a core service, led by Dr. Chelsey Davey, DVM, CCRP, CVMA.
Rehabilitation medicine is a rapidly evolving field that focuses on restoring function and improving quality of life in animals with musculoskeletal, neurological, or soft tissue injuries and diseases. It’s far more than just “physical therapy”; it's an integrated approach combining exercise physiology, pain management, biomechanics, and other modalities to optimize healing and performance.
Dr. Davey’s Background & Expertise:
Dr. Davey brings a wealth of experience from her practice at SOAR Veterinary Services. She completed her DVM at the Ontario Veterinary College and furthered her training with a Small Animal Rotating Internship at the Veterinary Specialty Centre of Delaware. She is certified in both Canine Rehabilitation (CCRP) and Medical Acupuncture (CVMA), demonstrating her commitment to providing holistic care. Her extensive experience includes practice in specialty clinics and academia, allowing her to stay abreast of the latest advancements in rehabilitation techniques.

Dr. Davey’s expertise encompasses a broad range of conditions, including:
Polyneuropathies: Diagnosis and management of nerve-related disorders affecting limb function.
Pre/Post-Surgical Management: Optimizing patient preparation for orthopedic and neurological procedures and accelerating post-operative recovery through targeted rehabilitation protocols.
Osteoarthritis: Implementing multimodal pain management strategies and therapeutic exercises to improve joint health and mobility.
Chronic Pain Management: Developing individualized plans to address chronic discomfort and enhance quality of life.
