Dr. Michelle Oblak
DVM, DVSc, DACVS, Founding-Fellow
Surgeon and Surgical Oncologist
Dr. Michelle Oblak is an Associate Professor and veterinary surgical oncologist at the Ontario Veterinary College. She completed her DVM and a combined doctor of veterinary science and surgery residency at OVC followed by her surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Florida. At OVC she is a clinician within the soft tissue surgery department and has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques in both oncology and soft tissue patients. She is an author of over 70 research papers and regularly speaks at conferences throughout the world in addition to teaching minimally invasive surgery labs for both residents and clinicians. As a clinician scientist focused on veterinary clinical trials, her research program centres on innovation and the incorporation of novel techniques and technology with translational potential.

Fluorescence guided surgery, minimally invasive surgery, sentinel lymph node mapping, comparative oncology

Soft Tissue Surgeon
Originally from New Zealand, I completed my Veterinary Degree at Massey University in 2009 and worked as a general practitioner in a rural community before moving to Australia for a surgical internship in 2011. A completed a rotating internship at Mississippi State University in 2013 before moving to Canada for a surgical specialist training at the Ontario Veterinary College. Following my training, I worked as a surgeon at the University of Illinois for two years prior to returning to Ontario. I have an interest in minimally invasive soft tissue surgery and feel very passionately about the benefits it offers our pets.
Special Interests:
Soft Tissue Surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and thoracoscopy)
